Coyote makes first 2026 crossing on I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. — A coyote marked the first wildlife crossing of 2026 on the I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East overcrossing.

The video was captured by Washington State Department of Transportation cameras on Monday, Jan. 5.

The coyote was observed moving from south to north.

The department is still finalizing data from 2025, but anticipates around 5,500 documented crossings by cameras for that year.

This overcrossing is part of ongoing efforts to ensure safe wildlife passage and reduce vehicle crashes.
