SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Two people suspected of a copper wire theft spree have been arrested following a coordinated investigation by the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and local law enforcement agencies, WSP said in a release.
WSP said the incidents, which began in early June, resulted in significant damage and service disruptions in the area.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT) reported vandalism of electrical boxes and conduit, leading to $168,000 in damages along State highways and Interstate 90.
Multiple agencies, including the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments, assisted the WSP in the investigation.
Modern technology played a crucial role in tracking the suspects’ vehicle movements throughout Spokane County, WSP added in the release.
The suspects were taken into custody and booked into the Spokane County Detention Facility.
WSP encourages anyone with additional information about the thefts to contact Detective Steve White at (509) 838-9383 or Sergeant Oscar Garcia at (509) 528-8381.
