
SPOKANE, Wash. – Deputies arrested a man after he allegedly tried to burglarize a business in Spokane Valley.
Spokane Valley deputies said they arrested 63-year-old Harold Thompson Jr. in connection with the incident.
According to a statement by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call by a business employee in the Valley who reported seeing a man inside of the business’s secured lot.
When police arrived on the scene, they found a man, who they later identified at Thompson, who matched the description given by the employee, wearing gloves and crouched over an orange bucket containing power tools, a black bag and a brown backpack.
After being detained by deputies and informed of his rights, Thompson said he had been out for a walk and found the orange bucket in the bushes.
Further investigation by the deputies found a hole in the fence of the secured business lot and discovered a truck with a broken window and items strewn about within the lot.
Employees from the business identified the items in the bucks as property of the business valued at about $1,200. They also identified Thompson as the intruder using security footage.
During a search of Thompson, deputies found tools known to be used during burglaries. They also learned that Thompson was a convicted felon with a history of theft.
Thompson has been transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail.
