SPOKANE, Wash. – The Garland Theater will host a screening of the controversial film “Cannibal Holocaust,” which faced legal issues following its 1980 release.
Marketed as banned in more than 50 countries, the film was seized in Italy upon release, and the director was charged with obscenity and murder after claims of real on-screen deaths.
The case was dismissed when the allegedly deceased actors appeared in court. However, the director and backers were convicted of animal cruelty due to real animal deaths in the movie.
The Garland Theater’s screening is for those aged 21 and over.
