BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) worked with Boise Police Department, Nampa Police Department and Canyon’s County Sheriff’s Office to carry out a security operation to root out contraband at the Idaho’s largest men’s prison, the Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC).
The operation focused on the C Block at the ISCC and included searches of classrooms in addition to the housing units, according to the Idaho Department of Correction Public Information Office.
Correctional Emergency Response Teams, auxiliary crowd control teams, police officers and K9s from every one of the agencies involved searched the housing unit, which included 180 bunks and the property of 345 of ISCC’s inmates.
No major contraband was found.
The Public Information Office reported that the operation went smoothly with no significant incidents reported. They also said that the operation provided “valuable hands-on training” for the teams involved.
IDOC Director Bree Derrick praised the effort, stating: “Improving public safety in Idaho takes all of us. Last week’s drug sweep in one of our prisons was an example of the partnership between IDOC, Canyon County, Boise and Nampa PDs. We thank our law enforcement partners for helping us keep our facilities safe and secure.”
IDOC plans to continue building on the cooperative approach to reinforce safety and interagency readiness, accordion to the Public Information Office.
