SPOKANE, Wash. – The Community Cancer Fund is gearing up for its third annual Boulevard Race in Spokane, taking place on Saturday, September 21.
This event is expected to raise between $100,000 and $150,000 to support cancer patients in the Greater Spokane area.
The Community Cancer Fund collaborates with organizations like the Ronald McDonald House and other local cancer-fighting groups. Their goal is to ensure that patients do not have to choose between treatment and paying bills.
Jon Neill of the Community Cancer Fund emphasized the shared struggle of those fighting cancer and facing food insecurity.
“Because the same people who are fighting for their lives in the fight against cancer, who can’t financially afford that, that fight, are the same people that are coming to you at Second Harvest who are food insecure, that need your help. So we’re in this together,” Neill said.
The Boulevard Race is designed to be inclusive, welcoming everyone from competitive runners to families with strollers. Participants will come together for a shared cause.
For those interested in participating, the race entry fee is $30. The course spans four miles and will feature at least 14 DJs along the route. Early registration is encouraged, as shirt and bib pickup is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McCarthy Athletic Center on Gonzaga’s campus.
Registration can be completed on the Community Cancer Fund website.
