COVILLE, Wash. — The U.S. Forest Service is planning to do prescribed burns in the Colville National Forest this weekend.
According to the forest service, the fires are to reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure, and natural resources.
The USFS says weekend weather conditions are favorable for the burns that are expected to last through the spring.
People in the area should expect to see smoke. That smoke can also persist as old stumps and logs smolder after the burn.
You can stay informed on prescribed burns with the PNW Prescribed Fire Tracker.
