DAKOTA COUNTY, Minn. – A unique piece of history is up for sale in Dakota County: a former Cold War missile site. This 27-acre property, once a Nike missile base, is listed for $2.25 million.
Twin Cities realtor Andy Voyen, who is accustomed to selling traditional homes, described this as the challenge of his career. “These guys reached out and said Andy we have a very unique property for you,” he said.
The site includes seven structures, a guest house, and a cafeteria. Despite being decommissioned in 1972, the solid concrete buildings remain, including a bomb shelter with two-foot-thick walls. “This is the safest structure in Minnesota,” Voyen said.
Lawson Grass and his family converted the site into a Mediterranean-inspired farm a decade ago. They are now looking to return to Morocco, leaving behind a property with potential for diverse uses.
“We’ve had business ideas from weddings to learning centers,” Voyen said. The future owner will not only acquire a rare site but also a piece of history.
Prospective buyers are encouraged to bring their imagination to revive the distinctive property.
