COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Daniel Patrick Grove, 55, was sentenced to 20 years in prison on October 2 for trafficking methamphetamine in addition to 14 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, the charges were filed following an incident on October 15 when Grove reportedly stole a trail camera. Unaware it was still transmitting location data, he brought it to his home in Coeur d’Alene.
The trail camera captured images of a tattooed male holding a firearm inside the home. Using these images and the shared location data, law enforcement identified the suspect as Grove, whose firearm rights had been suspended due to prior felony convictions.
A search warrant led officers to Grove’s home where they found the stolen trail camera, multiple firearms and more than two pounds of methamphetamine. Officers also discovered items indicating Grove’s membership in an outlaw motorcycle club.
Court documents revealed Grove’s numerous past convictions, including assault and burglary. He was sentenced by District Judge Regina McCrea to a unified 20-year prison term, with parole eligibility after 10 years.
