COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Idaho State Police will honor Specialist Travis Bucher with a Life Saving Award and promotion ceremony on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
Bucher will be promoted to Detective for his actions during a medical emergency on May 26, 2025, in Bonner County. While on patrol in the Sagle area, he overheard a CPR report on the radio and quickly responded to the nearby residence.
Arriving within two minutes, Bucher found an unresponsive man without a pulse. He took control, used his Automated External Defibrillator, and performed CPR until fire and EMS arrived. The patient was transported to the hospital and survived.
Medical personnel credited Bucher’s “quick response and lifesaving measures” for saving the man’s life. His calm demeanor and professionalism exemplified the highest standards of public service, they said.
