COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Local firefighter Dave Tysdal has been released from the hospital and is on his way to Colorado for specialized treatment. This marks a significant step in his recovery journey after a harrowing incident.
Tysdal, who was shot in the back during an ambush attack last month while responding to a wildfire, is currently struggling to regain feeling from the waist down. Doctors remain hopeful about his recovery, stating that once swelling subsides, he should be able to walk again.
A video captured earlier this afternoon shows Tysdal leaving the hospital, giving a wave to the camera as he embarks on the next phase of his recovery. His determination is evident as he moves toward the specialized care he needs.
The attack on Canfield Mountain in the Coeur d’Alene area tragically claimed the lives of Battalion Chiefs Frank Harwood and John Morrison. Their memorials were held last Thursday, honoring their service and dedication.
While the community continues to mourn the loss of Harwood and Morrison, Tysdal’s release from the hospital brings a glimmer of hope. His progress is a testament to his resilience, and the community remains supportive as he continues his journey to recovery.
