
SPOKANE, Wash. – This Monday marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day, leading to several closures at government buildings and community services in Spokane.
Spokane city facilities, including City Hall, Municipal Court and Community Justice Services, will be closed for the day.
All public libraries in the city will also be closed, and the Spokane City Council will not meet.
On-street meters and kiosks will be free for the day.
Garbage and recycling pickup will continue on its regular schedule.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day was first observed as a federal holiday in 1986 in honor of Dr. King Jr.’s legacy as a civil rights activist.
