
SPOKANE, Wash. – The City of Spokane has announced several closures and changes in services for the upcoming holiday season.
Spokane City Hall will close at noon on Dec. 24 and 31, and remain closed all day on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
Residents should note that garbage and recycling pickups scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays will be delayed by one day due to Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Additionally, the Waste-to-Energy facility will remain closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, but will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on other days.
Christmas tree pickup is scheduled from Jan. 5 to 16. Clean green food and yard waste collection will happen during the first full weeks of January and February, with green carts collected from Jan. 5 to 9 on regular garbage days. Residents are reminded to place carts at the curb by 6 a.m.
The Spokane City Council will not meet on Dec. 22 and 29. Meetings will resume on Jan. 5, with agenda review at 3:30 p.m. and a legislative meeting at 6 p.m. These meetings will be broadcast live on CityCable 5 and streamed online.
On-street parking meters will not require payment on Dec. 25 and Jan 1. However, all parking rules, including time limits, will still apply. Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will be closed on these days.
Spokane 311 customer service will have reduced hours on December 24 and 31, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. by phone and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in person. Service will not be available on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, but inquiries can be made online at Spokane311.org.
The Development Services Center will operate by phone and online only from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 24, 26 and 31, and will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
All Spokane Public Library locations will close on Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1. They will close early at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
The Numerica Skate Ribbon and Looff Carrousel in Riverfront Park will close on Christmas Day. A family-friendly New Year’s Eve Fireworks Celebration will begin at 9 p.m. in Riverfront Park.
