COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The Coeur d’Alene City Council has approved amendments to the municipal code regulating massage facilities. These changes are designed to differentiate between legitimate and illegitimate massage practices.
The new regulations aim to protect legitimate businesses and emphasize the importance of local oversight in combating prostitution and human trafficking. The city currently has 31 licensed massage facilities.
Under the new rules, massage facilities must submit copies of licenses to the city. These regulations also include requirements for English-speaking staff and maintaining records in English.
Additionally, facilities are now required to provide a floor plan to prevent unauthorized changes to the building, such as adding bedrooms.
The council’s decision reflects ongoing concerns about the rise of illicit massage operations in Idaho.
