SPOKANE, Wash. – MultiCare Deaconess Hospital brought Christmas cheer to its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event was held for babies born prematurely or needing extra care due to serious health conditions.
Each infant was nestled in handmade Christmas stockings crafted by hospital volunteers. This gesture is said to bring joy to the volunteers’ hearts during the holiday season.
“Well it definitely brings back memories of when I gave birth to my two daughters it just brings a warmth to your heart to see that, to see a newborn, to see new life that comes into the world,” said one volunteer.
MultiCare’s NICU is a low-stimulant environment, focusing on creating a supportive atmosphere crucial for the development of the infants in their 38-bed unit.
