SPOKANE, Wash. – The Cherry Pickers Trot and Pit Spit is set to take place today, celebrating the community’s love for cherries and tradition. The event has been a staple in Greenbluff since 1978.
Longtime volunteer Phil is part of this year’s festivities, which include a collection of t-shirts dating back to the first event. These shirts tell the story of the trot’s history and are available for purchase. This year’s new t-shirt design has been unveiled, showcasing elements like a tractor and an outhouse, both key parts of the trot tradition.
Brandy Sears shared her excitement about the new shirt, pointing out its unique features and the importance of community sponsors. “We always have the tractor and the outhouse, which leads the trot, starting at 7 p.m. tonight,” she said. The shirt also includes the words “Cherry Picker Strut 2025” and “Green Bluff” on the back.
The event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with food available at the fire station and Harvest House. The Pit Spit, free for competitors, runs from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Top Trot begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the main trot at 7:00 p.m. Registration is $20 and opens at 5:00 p.m.
