Cell phone data helps identify driving hazards in Washington State

WASHINGTON STATE – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) has turned to cell phone data from 2023 to identify dangerous driving behaviors across the state.

This data highlights when and where drivers were speeding, braking and engaging in phone conversations or texting.

For the next six weeks, WSP troopers will be focusing their efforts on four key locations. Three of these are on the west side, while the fourth is along Interstate 90 in downtown Spokane.

Drivers caught speeding face fines ranging from $105 to $423, depending on their speed. The initiative aims to enhance road safety by targeting areas identified as high-risk through the data analysis.
