
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Compassionate Addition Treatment (CAT) Sobering Center at 124 E Short, which opened with funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce, will close on May 31, 2025. This service was closely tied to Camp Hope.
Since its inception, the center has served 155 residents from Camp Hope, offering an average stay of 33 days. The center provided support like Medication Assisted Treatment, SUD assessments, and housing case management. Residents could stay until they secured housing, with transitions into Catalyst, Transitional Housing, Rapid Rehousing, and Permanent Housing.
In the past two months, the center opened to the broader community, aiding 54 additional individuals with an average stay of 10 days. Services included recovery support and navigation to treatment or shelter within the new .
The center welcomed people with pets and couples, offering separate sleeping spaces to address barriers present in other facilities. They also provided transportation to court, medical, and mental health appointments, aiding in stabilization and goal achievement.
“Thank you to our community partners for your collaboration and mutual support of the people we have served,” said CAT. “It takes all of us working together to support our community members experiencing homelessness. We celebrate the folks that have been with us who are now housed, and continue to cheer on and support the folks still seeking housing.”
