‘Capy Hour Cafe’ to bring new capybara experience to Coeur d’Alene

COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – A new capybara experience is coming to Coeur d’Alene.

The team behind Big Red’s Barn is planning to launch its Capy Hour Cafe, a reservation-only, Brazilian inspired, capybara integrated cafe on March 31.

The cafe will be inside the Big Red’s Barn building, but with a private entrance and exit separate from the main zoo.

The team’s announcement about the new cafe said it was designed to feel “calm, immersive, and intimate” and would be limited to ten guests per session.

“We didn’t want to create just another cafe,” Jace Harris from Big Red Barn said,” We wanted to create a place that feels peaceful and magical, like you’ve stepped into a little corner of Brazil right here in North Idaho. It’s meant to be warm, calm, and truly special.”

The cafe’s menu will feature Brazilian-inspired coffee and tea drinks, acai bowls and snack options, and “an intimate capybara social experience,” according to the announcement.

“We’ve seen firsthand how much people connect with capybaras,” Ginger Harris from Big Barn said, “There’s something incredibly gentle and grounding about these beautiful animals. We’re excited to create a space where people can experience the joy that they bring, in a completely new way.”

Along with the new cafe, Big Red Barn’s Facebook said new capybaras would be joining its family.
