COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department has promoted Captain Tom Hiltenbrand to the position of battalion chief. The promotion comes following the death of Battalion Chief Morrison.
The department said Morrison’s leadership had a lasting impact on the team.
“This moment is also one of reflection. Captain Hiltenbrand steps into a role left by the passing of Battalion Chief Morrison, a man whose presence, wisdom, and courage shaped the very soul of our fire family. His absence is deeply felt, but his legacy lives on in every life he touched—and in the continued service of those who follow in his footsteps,” the Facebook post said.
CDA Fire said that Hiltenbrand, who has served with the department for several years, is known among colleagues for his professionalism and dedication.
The department is encouraging community members to recognize Hiltenbrand’s new role while also honoring the service of Morrison.
