CLE ELUM, Wash.- – The Bullfrog Road overpass above westbound Interstate 90 is now open after emergency repairs were completed ahead of schedule. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced the reopening following damage from an over-height load in late October 2025.

The repair project, undertaken by WSDOT and Garco Construction, Inc., was completed in just 86 days under emergency authorization by Gov. Bob Ferguson. This was weeks ahead of the estimated end-of-January completion date.

Ferguson expressed gratitude for the swift work, saying, “We understand when major roads and bridges close, the impacts to communities and businesses are significant. Thank you to the WSDOT crews and contractors whose hard work restored this vital community connection weeks ahead of schedule.”

WSDOT region administrator Brian White praised the contractor’s efficiency. “Our contractor responded quickly and delivered under tight timelines. Their ability to rebuild this bridge safely allowed us to restore access for the local community in a matter of weeks while protecting the safety of everyone working on and traveling through the area,” White said.

The new overpass was constructed using precast concrete beams to speed up the process and reduce closures. Crews have installed new barriers and completed essential structural work.

However, crews will return in the spring to apply a thin overlay on the bridge deck, which will temporarily close the Bullfrog Road overpass again. Detours will be in place, but I-90 will remain open.

The total cost of the emergency repairs is approximately $8 million.
