FERRY COUNTY, Wash. – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Police have asked the public for help identifying a person, or potentially persons, of interest after a bull moose was discovered killed and wasted in the Sherman Pass area.

Officials reported that the moose was discovered on October 1 between Kettle Falls and Republic. The head and backstraps were removed, but approximately 500 pounds of meat was left to waste.

WDFW Police described this as a “blatant wildlife violation.” They are urging anyone with information to contact them at 360-902-2936 and select option 1 from the automated menu.

Information can also be submitted through the WDFW website. Additionally, tips can be texted by sending “WDFWTIP” to 847411.

WDFW officials announced that those providing information leading to an arrest may receive a cash reward or “bonus points for special permit hunting opportunities.”
