Spokane Valley firefighters say the forward progress of the brush fire has been stopped.
According to a spokesperson for the Spokane Valley Fire Department, the fire burned an estimated 10 acres and started in a grassy area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

According to the Spokane Valley Fire Department, the brush fire has been upgraded to a second alarm incident, and additional resources are being dispatched to the scene.
Officials have urged the public to avoid the area and allow firefighters to work.
The right lane of State Route 290 eastbound was closed down near milepost nine and Mcdonald Road at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to remain closed until the fire is contained. Traffic delays are expected and drivers are urged to yield to emergency vehicles.
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley firefighters are responding to a brush fire near Trent Avenue and Woodlawn Road.
According to the Spokane Valley Fire Department, drivers are asked to avoid the area and give emergency crews plenty of space to work.
