Breezy Thursday ahead with cooler air on the way

Expect some calm conditions for Thursday with increasing sunshine, followed by gusty winds and cooler weather this weekend.

Plan Your Thursday

Thursday features stable and dry conditions with temperatures reaching the 70s. While most areas remain dry, a few lingering showers are possible near the Canadian border at times. Skies turn from partly cloudy to mostly sunny as the day goes on. It will be a little breezy today with winds gusting up to 25 mph.

Temperatures tonight drop into the mid to upper 40s while sky conditions go from clear to partly cloudy after midnight. Skies should remain clear enough to possibly see the Northern Lights as a solar storm is expected to arrive sometime late Thursday or early Friday.

What We’re Tracking

Winds pick up Friday afternoon with gusts out of the southwest between 25 and 40 mph. This will lead to fire danger concerns and some areas of blowing dust in the Columbia Basin.

Saturday brings cooler highs in the 60s along with mountain showers. Temperatures will be chilly both Saturday and Sunday mornings in the upper 30s and low 40s! There’s a good chance of frost in the northern valleys as readings there fall below 35 degrees.

There’s also been a big shift in the long-range outlook from earlier this week. Widespread showers are now expected to return as early as Monday night.
