SEATTLE, Wash. – New details have emerged about the break-in at the home of Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez. The incident left his girlfriend, Jordyn Huitema, who plays for the Seattle Reign, in a terrifying situation.
Huitema, who was home at the time, called 911 and locked herself in the master bedroom as intruders ransacked the house. The intruders eventually broke into the bedroom but did not find her hiding behind the bathroom door.
“This is the scariest moment of my life,” Huitema said. “In that moment, that’s when I kind of just put my hand over my mouth and nose and was just trying to hold in all the tears, trying to hold in all the sounds and just trying to be as quiet as possible.”
Last week, a suspect was arrested and charged for a series of burglaries at the homes of other Seattle-based athletes, including Richard Sherman and Luis Castillo. However, other suspects involved in these incidents remain at large.
