GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – The body of a 30-year-old farmworker from the Mattawa area was recovered from an irrigation canal Tuesday evening.
Grant County Sheriff’s Office said coworkers became worried when the man did not return from his daily tasks by around 2:00 p.m.
His four-wheel ATV was found idling and unattended near Road M-Southwest and Road 24-Southwest, leading to concerns that he had entered the canal.
Columbia Basin Dive Rescue conducted a search of the area and recovered the man’s body from the canal. His name has not been released, pending notification of his next of kin.
The body is now with the coroner’s office, and they will perform an autopsy.
