HUNTERS, Wash. – Residents in Hunters, located in southwest Stevens County, discovered an unexpected visitor: a large male black bear taking up residence under an abandoned house.

The bear made its way through a hole in the foundation, bringing in foliage to create a suitable space for hibernation.

Concerned about the proximity to nearby homes and families, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife took action. They safely relocated the bear to prevent any potential future conflicts.
