SPOKANE, Wash. – Thanks to donations from views all over the community, Bite2Go raised over $170,000 that will be spent entirely on providing food packs for local students in need of food.
Bite2Go, a program of Second Harvest, fed about 9,500 kids during the 2022-2023 school year. This year, the projected total for kids that will need help is 13,500. To meet this need, Bite2Go looked to fill the gap of $80,000.
Bite2Go was at NonStop Local’s KHQ station this morning talking about their program and raising money via Connect Center volunteers.
The campaign’s funding included donations from viewers, businesses and clubs throughout the Spokane community.
The extra money will be used to make sure Bite2Go will not have to maintain strict restrictions on how many food packs are sent to schools. Instead, the extra funding will allow them to tell schools, “Feed every child that needs it and we’ll figure it out,” Tom Stevenson from Bite2Go said.
Donations are still being tallied, but the total is over $170,000. Donations can still be made at https://donors.2-harvest.org/page/bite2gokhq.
