SPOKANE, Wash. – Bite2Go, a program of Second Harvest, fed about 9,500 kids during the 2022-2023 school year. This year, the projected total for kids that will need help is 13,500. To meet this need, Bite2Go is looking to fill the gap of $80,000.
Bite2Go is at NonStop Local’s KHQ station today talking about their program and raising money via Connect Center volunteers.
“It brings a tear to your eye to think that a student that was fed last year won’t be fed this year, or a teacher that meets a student that is hungry and needs the food isn’t able to provide it for them,” Tom Stevenson, a volunteer with Bite2Go, said.
“Our community has stepped up in such a huge way. I mean in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington we, being churches and businesses, are feeding 12500 kids every week during the school year. And the need’s only going up,” said Stevenson.
