OLYMPIA, Wash. – A bill aiming to expand where alcohol can be served in Washington state is advancing through the legislative process.
House Bill 2128 would allow sports, amusement and recreational facilities, such as adventure parks, to qualify for sports entertainment liquor licenses. This would enable them to serve beer, wine and spirits throughout their premises.
The bill was inspired by Leavenworth Adventure Park and has garnered support from the hospitality industry. Representative Mike Steele, whose district includes Leavenworth, emphasized the potential benefits for local facilities.
“Their ability to serve alcohol is limited right now and they would like to have alcohol served through the entirety of the park…so the reason I propose this bill is to hopefully expand the license and give them the ability to do that,” Steele said.
The Liquor and Cannabis Board would still impose strict conditions including staff ratios, alcohol limits and restrictions based on facility layout and activity type.
