Tributes have been paid to a beloved cat known for daily visits to a local supermarket after he sadly passed away.
Mo – known as the “Co-op cat”- became famous after he was allegedly banned from the store in Newtongrange in Scotland.
Locals started a petition to allow Mo back in, and he was quickly spotted lounging on the self-service checkouts and receiving pets from customers.
Sadly, Mo’s owners announced today on a local Facebook page that the beloved cat has passed away.
In a post, they said: “Mo the Co-op cat was sadly put to sleep yesterday.
Rest in peace Mo.”
Newtongrange residents shared their condolences in the comments, with one woman stating: “Run free Mo.
“Will miss seeing you when I’m shopping.”
Another comment added: “He gave a lot of love and got a lot in return.”
“Sleep tight Mo, you were well loved by the people in Newtongrange,” read another.
