The latest “Avatar” sequel, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” dominated theaters over the weekend, opening at number one with $88 million, according to early estimates.
The animated film “David” secured second place with $20 million. “The Housemaid” debuted in third with $19 million, while “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” took fourth with $16 million.
“Zootopia 2” slipped to fifth place, earning $14.5 million.
