AT&T is rolling out a new AI-powered digital receptionist to select customers this year to help tackle unwanted phone calls. The goal is to minimize distractions from spam and fraud, building on AT&T’s history of blocking more than 2 billion robocalls monthly.
The digital receptionist complements existing spam filters like AT&T ActiveArmor® by engaging with callers to identify suspicious activity. This innovative tool uses advanced voice-to-voice AI, allowing users to focus on important calls while AI manages the rest.
AT&T aims to integrate this AI directly into their network, offering convenience without downloads or battery drain. The digital receptionist will handle calls autonomously, taking messages or accepting delivery windows, and will allow users to monitor calls via live transcripts.
Calls from trusted numbers bypass the AI, ensuring seamless communication with friends, family and professionals. The technology leverages decades of AT&T’s fraud prevention expertise, ensuring secure and efficient call screening.
This AI initiative is part of AT&T’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and exploring new AI applications to improve efficiency and convenience.
