Astria Health criticizes new bill’s impact on Toppenish Hospital

CENTRAL WASHINGTON – Astria Health, a key healthcare provider in Central Washington, has voiced strong opposition to the recently passed “Big Beautiful Bill,” citing concerns over its impact on local healthcare.

The bill, signed by President Trump on July 4, is said to bring tax relief and fund border security and infrastructure. However, Astria Health warns that Medicaid cuts within the legislation could severely affect Astria Toppenish Hospital.

Astria Health stated that despite Congress being aware of health disparities in the region, the bill still passed, potentially jeopardizing care for tens of thousands. The organization is now considering options to maintain community healthcare access.
