ASOTIN, Wash. – The Asotin County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) confirmed that Adam Anson, 38, drowned in the Snake River on Saturday, August 2.
According to an ACSO release, Anson was reported missing by his wife when he did not return from a solo fishing trip. His blue kayak was found anchored about 50 feet from shore near the beach across from Asotin Elementary School, deputies said.
The search for Anson included phone tracking and assistance from Asotin County Fire’s boat team, which initially yielded no results.
Later, the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office joined the search with their marine unit and dive team.
Investigators said divers found Anson’s body approximately 80 yards downstream from the kayak in 16 feet of water.
Anson’s body was recovered and taken to the Swallows Nest Boat Launch. Investigators said his family was present and has been notified.
The incident is believed to be an accidental drowning with no signs of foul play, the release added.
