Arson suspected in new fire off Riverfront Avenue by Latah Creek

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Fire Department said they suspect that arson caused a brush fire this morning at 2900 West Riverside Avenue.

The fire was reported at 9:16 a.m. Firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress at 9:32 a.m.

The fire burned around a quarter to half of an acre.

Captain Venning from the Spokane Fire Department said that they suspect the fire was caused by arson.

Department of Natural Resources is on the scene.

This is the second day in a row that began with fires caused by .

The National weather service has issued a for eastern Washington starting today at noon until 9 p.m. on Wednesday due to the dry heat and wind.
