SPOKANE, Wash. – The Armed Forces Torchlight Parade, a highlight of the Spokane Lilac Festival, is scheduled to take place in the downtown area on Saturday, May 16 at 7:45 p.m. This year’s theme is “Embrace” and features bands, military units, community organizations and special guests.
Applications are now open for those interested in participating. The parade promises to be an exciting event, and attendees might even spot local media in attendance.
The Junior Lilac Parade is scheduled for the week before on May 9. Applications for this event are also open.
This year, the Lilac Parade will be notably shorter. Spokane Lilac Festival organizers have announced that the route will be approximately 50% shorter than in previous years. This change comes due to security and cost considerations mandated by city officials.
Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the Mayor’s office for more information.
