BOISE – The Office of Highway Safety is accepting grant applications for Fiscal Year 2027. If your community organization has ideas to improve traffic safety and reduce fatalities, now is the time to secure funding and make a difference.
Preliminary data for 2025 shows Idaho experienced 257 traffic-related fatalities, an increase from 238 in 2024. The breakdown includes 185 motor vehicle deaths, 48 motorcycle deaths, 16 pedestrian deaths, 3 cyclist deaths, and 5 fatalities involving other vehicles such as ATVs and UTVs.
“Communities know their challenges best,” said Highway Safety Manager Josephine Middleton. “These grants empower local organizations to create programs that promote safer behaviors and save lives.”

Incomplete applications will not be considered, so applicants should follow all instructions carefully.
Projects selected will begin on October 1, 2026. Applications from law enforcement, injury prevention specialists, healthcare providers, and non-profits are welcome.
