Another Apple Tree Inn stabbing suspect charged with murder

SPOKANE, Wash. – A man accused of a fatal stabbing at the Apple Tree Inn in North Spokane has been charged with murder.

Jonathan Woodcock had his first appearance in court on Wednesday and was charged with second degree murder for his role in the death of Adam Stallings.

His bond was set for $1 million.

Court documents contain a Spokane Police officer’s notes from the testimony of a woman who was in the room with Stalling when he was killed.

She said she was staying in room #605 with Stalling and that he had been selling drugs to people who had been stopping by. She said that on Sunday night, she was in the shower when she heard a commotion outside.

When she stepped out of the shower and opened the door, she saw Stalling . Stalling was bleeding, she said.

She said the victims were both white men and that one had a shotgun.

Court documents also describe how Spokane Police Detective Widhalm used security footage to view the suspects, one of whom had a shotgun in the video, as they went to a car.

Widham identified the license plate as belonging to Woodcock. He used Flock, an Automated License Plate Reader system, to track the car as Woodcock drove out of town towards Ellensburg.

“With these facts I believe there is probable cause for the Defendant as either an actor or an accomplice for RCW 9A.32.050, Murder 2nd Degree,” Spokane Police Detective Andrew Bjur wrote in court documents.

The Spokane Police Department .

Chief Kevin Hall with the department said officers were met with resistance when they entered the suspect’s home and officers discharged their weapons. The suspect was killed and declared dead at the scene.

Later that day, a report from the Spokane Police Department said the suspect had a large gun and tried to breach the police perimeter, which resulted in a confrontation where police shot him.
