SPOKANE, Wash. – The Manito Holiday Lights, a typically annual event put on by Friends of Manito and City of Spokane Parks and Recreation, will not happen in 2025, according to the Friends of Manito.

The event was cancelled due to concerns about the resources needed for it, the environmental impact on Manito Park and the stress it can put on neighbors of the park.

“We know how much joy this event brought to our community, and we share in the disappointment,” the Friends of Manito wrote in its announcement about the cancellation.

The Friends of Manito said it was planning on revisiting the event in 2026 to explore ways to “create a celebration that spreads holiday happiness while caring for our Park and our neighbors.”

“Thank you for your understanding, and for being part of the Manito Park community we all love,” the Friends wrote.

Other holiday events include the Numerica Tree Lighting at Riverfront Park on November 29, the Riverfront Trail of Lights and Gesa Pavilion Holiday Lights Show at Riverfront Park from November 29 to January 1, the Corbin Park Tree Lightning on November 30, the Holiday Village at Riverfront Park from December 11 to the 14, the Cowley Park light show around the end of November and the New Year’s Eve fireworks at Riverfront Park on December 31.
