SEATTLE – Amazon, headquartered in Seattle, published a report showing a 6% rise in carbon emissions from the previous year.
The report stated that Amazon eliminated 68.3 million metric tons of greenhouse gases in 2024. The increase in emissions was primarily attributed to fuel usage from its delivery fleet and data center construction.
Electricity-based emissions were linked to the development of an AI capability program, which expanded last year.
Amazon had pledged six years ago to achieve a net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2040. The report also highlighted Amazon’s investment in more electric vehicles for its delivery fleet.
