
SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Airway Heights police officers received an early morning call on Wednesday by a driver who said he thought he hit someone with his car. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim dead in a ditch.
The department received the call at 1:30 a.m. and responded to the scene around U.S. 2 just west of Garfield road, near the Auto Zone.
The dead man was found in a ditch nearby.
Airway Heights police called in the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office to take over the investigation. Law enforcement later closed eastbound U.S. 2, which reopened around 6:30 a.m.
The driver was arrested for vehicular homicide and suspicion of impairment.
The victim was brought to the medical examiner.
