Affordable housing plan for low-income residents in Moscow to be presented

MOSCOW, Idaho – A new plan aiming to provide affordable housing for low-income residents in Moscow is set to be presented soon. This initiative will be discussed at the Moscow Fair and Affordable Housing Commission meeting next Thursday.

Casey Bolt, executive director of the housing nonprofit Sojourners Alliance, will present the framework. The board will be composed of volunteers and will be unpaid, but Bolt mentioned the need to hire a director to oversee the housing authority’s work. The cost of this position is still under discussion.

Bolt explained that his current proposal includes private funding to kickstart the project, as there are currently no publicly available funds from the city. Additionally, the group needs to conduct a housing needs assessment to determine the scope of the problem.
