RITZVILLE, Wash. – Adams County Sheriff Dale Wagner shared an update on social media regarding the county’s plans to remodel Adams County Jail in 2026,
According to Wagner, sufficient funding to remodel the jail has finally been secured.
“We are grateful for the continued progress toward the remodel of the Adams County Jail, including the secured funding and the scheduled start of construction in spring 2026,” Wagner said.
He continued, “The upcoming redesign, moving from outdated dorm-style housing to modern double-occupancy cells, represents a major step forward for safety, efficiency, and long-term stability for our county.”
Adams County has relied on sending inmates to neighboring counties such as Benton and Franklin counties for housing until the upgrade is completed.
“While we are currently unable to house overnight inmates due to staffing and facility needs, our team remains fully committed to seeing this project through,” Wagner said.
