ADAMS COUNTY – A rapidly moving brush fire damaged multiple structures before being extinguished by Adams County Fire District Two on Wednesday night.

The fire, reported around 3:22 p.m., was driven by strong winds and moved east toward structures, including vehicles, camper trailers and a shed.

Due to the fire’s speed, authorities implemented a level 3 evacuation for the surrounding area. Adams County firefighters later downgraded the evacuation to level 1 by 4:07 p.m. Despite this, officials reported that “multiple structures were damaged or destroyed.”

The fire was fully extinguished by 8:30 p.m., and mop-up operations continued for several hours.

Following the incident, Adams County officials urged residents to exercise caution in the hot, dry conditions.

“Avoid any outdoor burning. Don’t park vehicles on dry grass. Be mindful of equipment that could spark. Report any smoke or fire immediately to 911,” officials stated.
