COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Multiple firefighters have been injured, with several agencies, including the Coeur d’Alene Police Department and Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, responding.
Northern Lakes Fire District Chief Pat Riley confirmed, “Multiple firefighters are injured as a result of what was reported as gunshots.”
The public is urged to avoid the area and shelter in place. The situation remains fluid, with law enforcement actively searching for the suspect.
Chief Riley emphasized the seriousness of the situation, saying, “My immediate reaction was completely heartbroken. We trained for this. You never want to see it in your own community.”
