AARP hosts disaster preparedness workshop for Inland Northwest seniors

SPOKANE, Wash. – AARP has been actively involved in helping seniors with Social Security and recently hosted a workshop aimed at preparing seniors and their caregivers for potential disasters in the Inland Northwest.

AARP’s monthly events focus on the “three P’s”: plan, prepare, and protect. These workshops aim to provide seniors with the preparation and information needed to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters.

A key objective of AARP is to educate and empower caregivers. In partnership with the Red Cross, they are creating resources to assist those caring for seniors in developing plans to manage health or mobility issues.

Volunteers are crucial to this mission, and AARP is inviting individuals interested in teaching classes or running events such as the Disaster Preparedness Workshop to sign up on the Washington AARP website.
