Mayor Bettge to appoint Moscow Police Captain Dahlinger as next Chief of Police

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Mayor of Moscow announced that he intends to appoint Captain Anthony Dahlienger new Chief of Police for the Moscow Police Department.

Dahlienger’s new position comes after Chief James D. Fry recently announced his retirement.

Mayor Bettge will make the appointment at the upcoming April 1 City Council meeting with the appointment to be effective on May 1 following Chief Fry’s retirement on April 30.

Under the Moscow City Code, the office of Chief of Police is filled by appointment of the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council.

Dahlinger has been with the Moscow Police Department for over 12 years and has nearly 17 years of experience in law enforcement.

“I am honored and humbled with the Mayor’s proposed appointment of me as Chief of Police for the City of Moscow,” said Captain Dahlinger. “It has been my honor to serve and protect the citizens of Moscow over the last 12 years, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to build upon the exceptional work of those who came before me to ensure that the Moscow Police Department continues to be a model professional and community-focused law enforcement agency.”
