Local business donates to surprise local seniors for Easter

SPOKANE, Wash. – One local business is feeling the Easter spirit early this year.

Every year Meals on Wheels Spokane (MOWS) asks for donations to deliver Easter gift baskets to the seniors who they serve. This program is called “Spring for Seniors”.

This year one local business who is staying anonymous covered the cost about a month ago.

It was not long after MOWS posted about the need for donations (about a month before Easter) that the business called and donated. Typically, MOWS asks for donations up to the last days before Easter to be able to afford a gift bag for over 600 seniors.

Each bag has a singing stuffed animal, a hand towel, and a bunch of candy, which comes in a paper bag with a bunny on it.

To the seniors who receive the gift, it means more than its physical value.

“It means that somebody really cares about us,” said local senior Linda Hibdon. “This will make everybody happy because of these little toys and the candy because some of them never get nothing.”
