SPOKANE, Wash. – The federal government is considering Spokane as a potential location for new office space. Spokane is one of 21 medium-sized cities identified in a recent request for proposal (RFP) issued by the U.S. General Services Administration.
The RFP, published on September 16, 2025, seeks a 10-year lease for a fully furnished office above ground level. The space should support standard office operations with adequate sound privacy for confidential discussions. It also includes a component to support law enforcement operations and storage solutions appropriate for administrative operations.
More than 50 office spaces are currently available in Spokane, according to a popular commercial real estate website. However, the right fit depends on how the federal government intends to use the space.
Earlier this year, several locations in Washington and Idaho had their leases terminated, including the Spokane Research Laboratory and the U.S. Geological Survey office in Spokane Valley. This RFP suggests a renewed federal interest in maintaining a presence in the Inland Northwest.
Mayor Lisa Brown was unaware of the RFP before being contacted for comment. She plans to look further into the proposal and may offer a more thorough statement once she has more information.
